Billy Graham's Prayer For Our Nation

Know that the world is going its way to destruction as in the time of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Consciously or unconsciously, we are committing sins of all kinds. Now, let us come to our Lord Jesus asking for His forgiveness. Say this prayer of confession, acknowledging our sins and transgression. The Lord promises us in 1 John 1:9:

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics.. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. Amen!'

  1. Knowledge is complicated. It makes us too proud to meet God. It gives us reasons not to believe. It hardens us to ou better natures.

Satan uses our desire to be powerful to blind us to simple truths. That we are called to be obedient, faithful and to listen to the truth that Jesus brings.

For me the most troubling sin is deception.

The deception of religion in misleading those who are searching.

Yet the purpose of God will prevail.
